Man sentenced to life for mother's murder Updated / Thursday, 11 Mar 2021 20:15 A man has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his mother in 2019. Tomasz Krzysztof Piotrowski, 35, was sentenced today by Mr Justice Michael White. The decapitated body of Elzbieta Piotrowska was discovered at her home at Clonmore in Ardee, Co Louth, on 8 January 2019. The 57-year-old, who came to Ireland with her husband from Poland, had also sustained serious stab wounds. An axe and stanley knives were found close to her body. Her son was arrested within two-and-a-half hours of the murder and was subsequently deemed unfit to be tried, having been assessed by psychiatrists at the Central Mental Hospital (CMH) in Dundrum, Dublin.
