Man, two 17-year-olds charged with murder in N.J. shooting Updated Feb 27, 2021; Facebook Share Less than a week after a Newark man was gunned down in the city, authorities on Friday said two 17-year-old boys and an adult were arrested and charged in the slaying. Jaqway McCall, 18, a city resident, and the juveniles face murder, conspiracy to commit murder and weapons charges in the Monday shooting death of Romel Bottex, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose announced in a joint statement. Police arrested McCall without incident Thursday, according to officials. He was being held at the Essex County jail ahead of a detention hearing.
