Maple View tests negative, hospital limits visitors

COVID-19 tests of nearly all the 240-plus residents at Extendicare Maple View residents have come back negative after Algoma Public Health recently declared an outbreak at the nursing home.
Two employees tested positive for novel coronavirus, prompting the APH announcement on Dec. 31. An outbreak is defined as at least one resident or staff member having COVID-19.

“All residents were tested to identify any instances of the virus as soon as possible,” Extendicare said in a statement to The Sault Star. “Resident results continue to be received, however all tests have come back negative, with five swabs still pending.”
