Maysville school board in deadlock with teachers' union over contracts View Comments MAYSVILLE - Federal mediation awaits the Maysville Local Schools after board members declared impasse during contract negotiations with the teachers' union. "We're bargaining for fair and sustainable salaries, improved working conditions and better learning opportunities for our students," Maysville Education Association (MEA) President Myra Warne said. A major point of contention between the board and MEA lies with proposed economic packages. "A concern that we have as we move forward to negotiate an economic package, if you will, is that this school year alone we've lost more than 8 percent of our teaching staff, and we're quite concerned that, among other things, the fact that our pay lags the state average by $8,000," Warne explained.
