The Merritt Crown is changing it up this year. The third iteration of the race, held in late September of last year, saw around 60 racers come for the one day event – though, of course, still maintaining social distancing practices by wearing masks and having staggered start times. The racers took on Merritt’s extensive trail system, including Windy Canyon, Ridge, Godey, and James’ Joyride. This year’s race will see riders tackle a similar route – however, the event will be held over a ten-day period, with riders allowed to spend any of the allotted time period in mid-June to complete the 120-kilometre course.
