Chula Vista’s Millenia development is pivoting from retail to office space. Because of poor market conditions that saw a number of brick-and-mortar stores close in Chula Vista last year, Meridian Development plans to change what was originally anticipated to be retail space to office space. “What we are seeing in the shift of this plan, and because market conditions change, is really a shift from service industry jobs to professional jobs,” said Director of Development Eric Crockett. “Instead of having a focus on hotels and retail, this is now starting to shift to what we’ve all wanted to see, which is a major employment center, a professional office, and professional jobs in the South Bay,” he said.
