Posted Marshall Helmberger TOWER-SOUDAN— Residents of Breitung Township voiced support for a return to a local police department, at least based on the limited response to a survey on the question that township officials distributed to residents of Soudan and the surrounding area last month. Meanwhile, residents in Tower provided little response to the survey, although a narrow plurality of respondents backed relying on 911-coverage only through the St. Louis County Sheriff’s office. Residents of Tower returned just 23 surveys, reflecting a response rate of less than five percent. Township residents returned 50 surveys, a response rate of less than ten percent.
