History was made last month at Moody High School when the choir won sweepstakes at the UIL Concert & Sight-Reading contest.
In previous years, Moody's choir has either received a 1 in concert, where students must prepare three songs out of a prescribed list, or a 1 in sight-reading, where students are presented with a piece of music and their director has six minutes to instruct them on how to sing it. The choir has never received a 1 in both parts of the UIL contest.
Moody's choir director San Juana Rodriguez said teaching her students this past year has been a struggle with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but she is blessed they finally were awarded with sweepstakes.
