More than 18,000 homes without power across the Inland Northwest

SPOKANE, Wash. — More than 18,000 homes were without power across the Inland Northwest Sunday night.
High winds with gusts of up 50 mph hit the region around 8 p.m, knocking down power lines and power poles in some places.
Avista Utilities reported about 8,000 customers were without power from the South Hill, all the way north to Sandpoint.
Nearly 5,500 Kootenai Electric customers were in the dark and about 4,800 Inland Power customers were without service.
