St. Joseph Post Chaplains at Mosaic Life Care have been recognized for their work in supporting organ donors and their families. The Midwest Transplant Network recognizes Mosaic Life Care with the Excellence in donations Award. Mosaic Chaplain Dan Mefford says first and foremost the organ donor is a person. “This is not just a donor. This is a person,” Mefford tells St. Joseph Post. Mefford says he hopes people talk to their families about their decision to donate organs. “If a person is a first person consented donor, we’re going to do it, but we’re not going to treat the family any differently,” says Mefford. “We are going to support them in any which way we can.”
