Most Amherst children and their parents opt for in-person learning; 3 elementary schools to fully reopen next month
Updated Mar 17, 2021;
The three K-6 elementary schools in Amherst – Crocker Farm, Fort River and Wildwood -- will reopen five days per week with full-time in-person learning next month, as surveys of parents and children indicated that is what most want.
Data from the collated surveys shared at Tuesday’s Amherst School Committee meeting by Superintendent Michael Morris indicates that, overall, about three out of four said yes to a return to campus for instruction inside the buildings, instead of remotely from home.
Information from a slide presentation Morris shared at the meeting says: “Majority of students will be returning in-person at each school. Consistent responses by school and grade level, ranging from 71-78%.”
