Jacksonville Police Department officers responded in 2020 to 21,825 calls, a 4% decrease — or 919 fewer calls — from 2019. The pandemic could have had some impact on the number of calls, but the decline is something the department has been seeing, police Chief Adam Mefford said. “If you go back and look at our numbers, we’ve been seeing a decrease the last three or four years,” he said.
