At the same time that black women are judged and criticized and dismissed for labeled and perceived to be angry, theyre also lauded and sought after and solicited because democrats know they cannot win without them. Can you talk about that dichotomy . Absolutely it is a tough balancing act for women of color in particular because there hasnt been a Single Movement towards progress in this country that black women have not been at the center of forward the bodies that create the movement and they didnt receive the credit. I think that for a party that has been used to not really having to show up as often as they should for the progress of black women now looking at the fact that black womens Organizing Power Cannot be stronger, President Biden won in 2020 in large part because of the focus of black women particularly in the Battleground States were working every day not only to carry his message to get people registered and help them understand whats happening here. Black women will allow for their bodies to be at risk particularly in states like georgia with threats to water advocacy were real by a lot of the negativity of the trump camp and those who targets on the back of the black women working people registered. I think we are at a point where black womens resonating power cannot be denied is also watching them elevate black women to positions of power. I would argue using power or anger and think of righteous anger instead of just being angry for the sake of it. On the right people fighting for things that under my. The same women who are fighting anticrt who are okay with removing womens right to choose. I think thats an interesting point. I love the term righteous anger. I was vacillated between the notion of anger and passion alive righteous anger because of the get puts a very different and appropriate framing. Lets talk about these two very competing narratives. On one hand you have donald trump meaning into heavily without any surprise to most the Strongman Rhetoric has relied on strongman language. Whats happening with women is that they have i think there is a realization look, losing the right to choose and losing bodily autonomy, the fall of row is a right that women lost that they had had for almost 50 years so think about whats that like to take away a right that had been enshrined in the constitution and is now gone. I do think that is a trauma i do agree that black women really did win for democrats and they cannot be taken for granted that is really important. I know as a matter of fact i write a lot of the Vice President in the Press Secretary and these are two incredible black women who serve this administration in amazing ways and made history and are subject to mind blowing levels of sexism and racism every single day. In fact so much so that its shocking to me. I think it really shows how far we have to go as a culture. I appreciate that and i appreciate your honest. I will say that for most Black Americans its not shocking and the reason i say that is because if you look at going back to mlk and malcolm x they talked about even progressive spaces and the danger of people who were in spaces and not willing to acknowledge that they had their own biases. They can be either more dangerous than the current Lease Individual i think that is where some surprise comes because there should be more for black women they are still facing scrutiny but the casual racism.
