Vice president Kamala Harris will be in North Carolina this afternoon, Donald Trump will be in pennsylvania returning to the site of an attempted assassination against him. Governor Tim Walz is set to speak in Ohio And Senator did events will be in massachusetts and then pennsylvania himself. Vp harris spoke in flint, Michigan Friday appearing with Basketball Legend Magic johnson and focusing her message on jobs. America lost nearly 200,000 Manufacturing Jobs when he was president. Including Tens Of Thousands of jobs in michigan making Donald Trump one of the biggest losers of Manufacturing Jobs and american history. Former President Trump spoke in North Carolina, one of several states where Absentee Voting is already underway. Its one of the states recovering from Hurricane Helene. The storm struck in georgia and North Carolina leaving election officials scrambling to come up with alternative plans for voter registration, Absentee Balance and voting in those areas while trump continues to criticize the federal governments response. They are doing the worst job on a hurricane that any administration has ever done. These people dont want to talk about it. They dont want to talk about it. The campaign says they want to honor the life of who was killed here that day, honor those who were injured, honor those who are Here Today and those across the country who were witness to this. Are we going to hear a typical Campaign Rally or might today be a little different given the context of where we are . I want to bring Peter Baker into this. They understand shes coming in the capacity as Vice President and its not a campaign stop happening in North Carolina. Voters dont necessarily pay attention to those distinctions. She is at the forefront at this moment. They will be listening to her words very closely today. This is a Battleground State now. Voters have very deep concerns, some even worried about what voting in these conditions could look like if recovery is challenging as we get to early november. That is something people will keep an eye on and we know democrats across the country will be looking to her to make these final arguments to reassure these voters in communities like North Carolina and all the other battlegrounds. Getting voting back up there is going to be a top concern. We have seen the gears turning into motion. Peter, ill come back to you. Its funny because historically every First Lady since Roe V wade supported Abortion Rights in some fashion including republicans and democrats. Reporter we saw an israeli strike as far north as the northern part of the country hitting a Hamas Leader and there have been two Hamas Leaders according to the group who have been killed by these israeli strikes here in lebanon in just the past 24 hours. Clearly israel has been reaching further into the country away from its border with lebanon and striking different kinds of targets. Hamas has long been a main target of the israelis but we have also seen over the past two weeks strikes against the liberation of palestine, hezbollah groups. This is they are expanding their list and hitting places like medical centers affiliated with hezbollah. They are very worried. I was speaking with volunteers at a Food Distribution Center this morning and they were talking about how dangerous its becoming because now, like in the Gaza Strip, lebanon is becoming a place where there is no safe place to where airstrikes are hitting every corner of this country. This as you mention the tensions between iran and israel a couple days after iranians lofted missiles fired at the israelis. Most were shot down and according to israelis there were no injuries but only one death of a palestinian man in the west bank. This entire region is girding for what could become an israeli retaliation that could set off a regionwide war. This has been the fear for the past year ever since those October 7th attacks and the anniversary Coming Up two days from now. This is something we are seeing being realized in real time. Its a major concern for the white House And Something obviously Joe Biden has been talking about. Here is the president speaking about this. Israelis have every right to respond to the vicious attacks on them. Not just from iranians but everyone from hezbollah to the who these. Anyway, the fact is that they have to be much more careful about dealing with casualties. The israelis have not concluded what they will do in terms of the strike. Thats under condition. I think if i were in those shoes i would be thinking about other alternatives. What is your understanding of the short and longterm goals behind this escalation of the operation in lebanon . The Air Force is operating Intelligence Material against hezbollah. Missiles and other targets and we do it all over lebanon. I think it is justifiable and necessary. The operation along the border is very limited operation and destroying the infrastructure. Weapons are very close to the border which might enable the hezbollah to repeat whats happening in the Gaza Strip a year ago in two days. We are committed to make sure there is no repeat for the lebanese border what happened in the gaza border. That is the objective of the limited operation. There are also concerns about a Widening Conflict in the region even with these escalations, do you still see a way to prevent that . There is option but it has been dictated by the behavior of iran. No one else would have attacks by 200 ballistic missiles for the second time in several months without finding compelling to respond to it. It is still not clear the target. Whether it is Oil Installation or some Production Line of missiles or drones which were sent into israel. Even talking about the possibility of using this opportunity to have an attack on nuclear facilities but that is something very complicated. Any fullscale war needs intimate and close coordination with the united states. Israel can initiate it but it cannot completed on its own. There is speculation that yahoo wants to keep it going for political reasons or to try to wait out the u. S. Election results. Listen to President Biden on that and ill ask your reaction after. No administration has helped israel more than i have. None. None. None. I think maybe you should remember that. Whether hes trying to influence the election i dont know but im not counting on that. What i know that my job is alongside democrats and republicans and ranking member crow, we all are committed to getting at the truth as to both of these Assassination Attempts. To get at the truth, to find out what went right, what went so grievously wrong particularly in the case of butler that took the life. I read that the mrs. Will attend. Far be it from me to decide whether this is appropriate or not but we will find out what went wrong and what the Secret Service must do. Former president and Vice President. Before congress left town for october you guys did a Task Force hearing and its clear the Secret Service is stretched then at a Peak Political Moment but before they left town they appropriated 200 Million extra dollars to be used to help ease that crunch. Is this a Money Problem based on the conversations youre having with Secret Service agents . This is more than one issue that is at stake here. Yes resources are important but you can imagine it will take quite a few number of years to properly staff up more and more agents because the training for Secret Service agents as you know takes time, its complicated, you need to find the right people for it. What we know is we have talented Secret Service agents. They are dedicated to protecting the lives of their protectives. The resources are stretched too thin, they talked about demoralizing over time the stress on themselves and their families but we also know other things went critically wrong that day. Communications, planning, the walkthrough two days before. One of the local Butler County officers pointed out the problem of the building that the shooter ultimately was on. We did a visit to the site, but the proximity is so glaringly obvious that the Building And Set of buildings was so close and in straight line of sight. Failure of planning, communication, failure to follow up. We saw that during the hearing. I know what President Trump was responsible for, responsible for saying i wont accept losing, i wont allow for a peaceful transfer of power like President Biden just said in that clip. We know he incites violence and what keeps me up at night is we knock on every door and engage every voter that they come out for the protection of our precious democracy because everything is on the line. We have had many conversations of your experience in the House Gallery on January 6th. When you look ahead to that coming certification is that still a concern that you and your colleagues are actively talking about and do you believe that if it is speaker Mike Johnson in the chair that no matter who wins the results will be certified . I hope and pray and believe that as american citizens, as people who literally care about the fabric of this democracy that we know it is our responsibility to do our constitutional duty, to live by our oath to tell the truth and to fulfill the obligation which is a really ministerial on january 6. What i hope also happens is such a clear and decisive win. Here in my Home County of Montgomery County but also across the commonwealth of pennsylvania.
