Jaquez Gardner A man wanted in connection to a deadly shooting this past weekend at the Corner Tavern in Mt. Vernon has been taken into custody. The Mt. Vernon Police Department reports 29-year-old Jaquez Gardner was arrested in O'Fallon Tuesday night. Members of the O’Fallon Police Department located a vehicle associated with Gardner at the Drury Inn Hotel. After several hours of surveillance, detectives and members of the U-S Marshall Task Force saw Gardner exit the hotel and get into a vehicle at around 9:10 p.m. They were able to take Gardner into custody without incident. Gardner was transported to the Jefferson County Justice Center . He is charged with First Degree Murder and being an Armed Habitual Offender in the death of Jamarco Foulks.
