The list opens with the historic Esplanade Mansion opposite Babula Tank, Mumbadevi, Masjid, VP Road, Sonapur, Bhoiwada and Umarkhadi fall in the high risk category too. Addressing a press meet at the Mhada headquarters in Bandra Tuesday, Vinod Ghosalkar, chairman of its Mumbai Repair and Reconstruction Board, said the agency had conducted its annual survey of cessed buildings during May-June. He said, "Of the 21 structures that are at risk, 10 figured in our 2020 list as well. There were 460 residents of whom 193 have made their own arrangements and vacated. We have shifted 20 people and are devising rehabilitation plans for 247 others shortly. We will visit each of the 21 buildings and urge people to move to transit camps, though these are located in the suburbs not South Mumbai." The housing board faces resistance from tenants who insist on being rehabilitated in their present location.
