An end-line survey data released by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) showed more than half of respondents (56.0 per cent) indicated corruption results in under-development of the country, 17.6 per cent indicated that corruption increases the poverty level of majority of Ghanaians, while 10.3 per cent mentioned that corruption results in non-availability of funds for the provision of basic amenities for citizens. The report, which examined the ‘Public Opinion on the State of Corruption, Public Accountability and Environmental Governance in Ghana,’ also identified that citizen’s awareness and knowledge on where to report cases of corruption played important roles in minimising corruption.
