NCPA December 14, 2020 NCPA submitted comments Monday on behalf of independent community pharmacies to the Office of Infectious Disease and HIV/AIDS Policy on the draft HIV National Strategic Plan for 2021-2025. Although pharmacies are recognized in the draft HIV plan, NCPA emphasized that independent community pharmacies stand ready to help confront head-on the clinical barriers keeping patients from accessing and maintaining HIV care. Ease of pharmacy access, the pharmacist’s clinical ability in bolstering prevention and care efforts through the HIV continuum, the pharmacist’s relationship with the community, and other practitioners that provide care to the community were highlighted. NCPA will continue working with HHS to ensure that additional independently owned community pharmacies will be involved in public/private partnerships for the Ready, Set, PrEP Program.
