Jonnel Estomo(PNA photo by Avito Dalan) MANILA - The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said all systems are in place to secure the "Balik Eskwela 2022" as they conducted a successful simulation exercise on Saturday at various schools/learning institutions in Metro Manila. The NCRPO covers five districts -- the Manila Police District (MPD), Quezon City Police District (QCPD), Northern Police District (NPD), Southern Police District (SPD) and Eastern Police District (EPD). In a statement on Sunday, NCRPO acting chief Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo said Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky, deputy regional director for operations inspected the situation in the MPD while Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo, deputy regional director for administration, randomly checked the NPD. Meanwhile, the SPD, QCPD and EPD were also inspected by the members of the regional police staff and other officers. Estomo also deployed personnel to strictly implement the minimum public health and safety protocols and provide assistance to students especially when crossing pedestrian lanes. They were also reminded to be extra alert and vigilant at all times to be able to respond immediately when the need arises. Geared to secure 1,342 private and public schools, a total of 9,731 NCRPO personnel are ready for deployment for the opening of classes on Monday were tapped to augment the deployment were 4,530 force multipliers and 2,994 security guards. There are also 521 Police Assistance Desks established to be posted by 1,653 policemen. Meanwhile, 3,423 mobile and foot patrollers are tasked to provide all kinds of assistance to students and school staff, 372 Tactical Motorcycle Riders, 60 bus marshals, 154 cops in transportation hubs/terminals and 191 traffic marshals are tasked to secure children along the roads and streets, and within major thoroughfares of NCR. A total of 1.8 million students are currently enrolled in the region. Estomo reported the overall success of the simulation exercises simultaneously conducted region-wide and according to him, NCRPO is all set and fully geared for "Balik Eskwela 2022". The NCRPO chief, as part of his major plans for this occasion, will distribute free school supplies to students in different schools within Metro Manila, especially those from indigent families, alongside the distribution of fliers and other instructional materials to keep them away from lawless elements. He also encouraged the public to immediately report any suspicious person or activities to the nearest police station and police assistance desk. (PNA) }
