The Department of Space in India has received an increased budget of nearly Rs 2,000 crore in the interim budget for 2024-25 compared to the revised estimates for 2023-24. The allocation for the Department of Space now stands at Rs 13,042.75 crore, up from Rs 11,070.07 crore. The increased budget reflects the importance of space technology, with a significant rise in allocation for space technology from Rs 8,180 crore in 2023-24 to Rs 10,087 crore in 2024-25. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set ambitious targets for the Department of Space, including building a space station by 2035 and landing an Indian astronaut on the moon by 2040.
