Neil Peart is going to grace Lakeside Park in Ontario, where the drummer grew up and eventually made famous in lyrics to a 1975 Rush song of the same name. The city of St. Catharines, Ontario, recently put out a call for submissions, and artists have until March 29 to submit proposals. One prospective design was recently shared by Canadian artist Morgan MacDonald, along with lifelong Rush fan Bill MacDonald and musician Peter Fewer. (UPDATE: A prior version of this article erroneously stated that MacDonald's sculpture had been selected by the city.) The clay maquette Morgan created is a little less than life-size. It depicts Peart at his drum throne, playing the instrument he revolutionized over his 40-plus-year career. If selected, a bronze version of the statue will be installed in the park.
