UGC secretary Manish Joshi said that under the current regulations outlined by the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of PhD Degree) Regulations, 2022, students qualifying for fellowships and scholarships in UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR NET/GATE/CEED and similar national-level tests are eligible for admission to PhD programs based on interviews conducted by universities.
