New B.C. project will make six buildings more eco-friendly

A new project that aims to breathe new life into old buildings through energy-efficiency upgrades is starting soon in B.C.'s Lower Mainland.
The Reframed Lab, as the pilot project is called, will retrofit six residential buildings to make them less polluting, while increasing their seismic resilience.
Buildings in Vancouver, where one of the six sites is located, are responsible for 60 per cent of the city’s carbon pollution. Nationwide, the federal government says as much as 17 per cent of emissions come from buildings. By 2030, the federal government wants this to change, with net-zero building codes implemented across Canada by the end of the decade.
