THE sound of church bells ringing has returned to the Isle of Wight after lockdown easing allowed bell ringers to meet once again. During four months of virtual sabbatical in lockdown, only special events and occasional special events were possible, with Beccy Noyes tolling a bell 100 times for Captain Sir Tom Moore at Brighstone. The Winchester and Portsmouth Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers supports ringers from across the Island With a full relaxing of measures due on Monday June 21, Newport Minster's bell ringers are appealing for new people to join their ranks.
