Daytona Beach, FL – Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) investigators got some information from Othal Wallace’s girlfriend after the shooting of Officer Jason Raynor on June 23. In a charging affidavit from that day, Wallace’s girlfriend told detectives that he lived with her at the apartment located at 133 Kingston Avenue and they’d been together for six years. She also told officers that Wallace drives a gray SUV. On the day of the shooting, the girlfriend said that she left the apartment at 4 a.m. to go to work and when she returned after 5 p.m., Wallace was not in the apartment. She told investigators that she went outside after hearing a commotion and saw that an officer had been shot. Detectives showed the girlfriend a picture of the suspect in the shooting from Officer Raynor’s body-cam. She identified him as her boyfriend, Othal Wallace. She told them that Wallace was known to carry a handgun on his person, and that he also owns a rifle. Wallace remains in the Volusia County Jail being held without bond. He is next scheduled to be in a Volusia County courtroom on August thirteenth for an arraignment-custody trial on a charge of First-Degree Attempted Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer.
