The East Alton-Wood River Community High School board has chosen a new superintendent. Current Sandoval Superintendent Rob Miller will assume the duties as head of the district on July 1, as current Superintendent Dr. John Pearson announced his retirement at the November board meeting. At that time, the board began a search that wound up with Miller being named to the position. Prior to his work in Sandoval, where he has served as Superintendent since 2018, Miller had over a decade of administrative experience as the Principal and Athletic Director at Madison Jr-Sr High School and began his educational career as a school social worker in the Granite City School District in 1999. Pearson has led EAWR since July of 2000 and closes out a 40-year career in public education.
