A THUG has avoided prison despite being part of a hooded gang of five who beat a man unconscious in a dark alleyway. Mohammed Raja was sentenced on Thursday for his part in the group attack upon Kester Jardine in Black Horse Walk, Lowesmoor, Worcester. We previously reported that Martin Coffey, aged 26, of Maple Avenue, Worcester was the only person to have been sentenced for the attack, with a 22-month jail term for assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Raja was the latest to face justice and at his sentencing hearing for the same offence prosecutor Amrisha Parathalingam told the court he had been part of the gang that shouted to Mr Jardine and his friend to ask if they wanted to buy 'weed'.
