Nogizaka's 4th Generation joined the group in a truly unprecedented way. During the summer of 2018, the Sakamichi Group's first "Sakamichi Joint Audition" was held. Out of an extraordinary number of 129,182 applicants, a combined total of 39 successful applicants passed a stringent screening process for
Nogizaka46, Keyakizaka46 (now known as Sakurazaka46), and Hiragana Keyakizaka46 (now known as Hinatazaka46), of which 11 of them joined as members of
Nogizaka46's 4th Generation.
Of the 14 successful applicants who were not assigned to any of the three core groups, they started out as "Sakamichi Trainees". In February 2020, 5 members of Sakamichi Trainees joined
