NZ man who tried to buy child on dark web jailed

A 36-year-old man has been jailed for five years after trying to buy a child for the purposes of sexual exploitation.

Aaron Joseph Hutton pleaded guilty last year and was sentenced at the Auckland District Court today.
Hutton was also charged with possession of child pornography and will be added to the Child Sexual Offenders Register.
The Digital Child Exploitation Team at the Department of Internal Affairs discovered Hutton during an investigation on the dark web in 2015.
