OBCs: J&K approves amendments for OBC reservation in Panchayati Raj Act despite controversy

The Administrative Council, led by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, has approved amendments to the J&K Panchayati Raj Act, 1989, incorporating the definition of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) to ensure reservation for them. The draft amendment bill, reviewed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, addresses disqualification, suspension, and removal procedures for Panchayat members, as well as conditions of service for the State Election Commissioner.
