SME Secmation to develop modular cyber-secure UAS platform — with potential applications for unmanned maritime systems as well. The Office of Naval Research (ONR) has chosen Secmation to develop a modular, cyber-secure UAS platform called SecMUAS. The US-based SME received a $1 million Phase 2 Small Business Innovation Research contract in January 2021 but only announced it on 16 March. ‘While this ONR project includes testing with unmanned aerial systems/drones, the methodology is applicable to a variety of unmanned platforms including unmanned maritime systems,’ Secmation added. The company noted that SecMUAS incorporates a US-designed and US-manufactured secure control unit with advanced security and performance features, as well as an integrated development environment that provides a rapid UAS software development capability that automatically incorporates security features.
