One dead in Rayne shooting Posted at 4:38 PM, Jul 18, 2021 and last updated 2021-07-18 23:22:33-04 One man is dead following a shooting just before midnight in Rayne. Police say they were called to the King City Grocery Store on West Jeff Davis Avenue. They found Jonathan Dixon, 22, dead from and apparent gunshot wound. Officers are currently investigating the homicide and multiple arrests are expected. This evening we spoke with family and friends at a vigil and balloon release held for Dixon. "For all the viewers that, you're thinking about owning a gun because it makes you cool, shooting a gun because you think it gives you street credibility. It doesn't," said Roderick Freeman, Dixon's father. "You know. We have grandkids that grow up without their dad. Me, my wife and his father had to grow up without our son, his siblings have to grow up without their older brother. Nobody wins in the end."
