New Brunswick recorded its 31st death related to the COVID-19 pandemic on Wednesday. Public Health announced a person in their 30s in the Edmundston region (Zone 4) died “as a result of COVID-19.” It’s the first time the province linked a COVID-related death directly to the virus. In all previous instances, the province said the deaths were the result of “underlying complications, including COVID-19.” Meanwhile, the province also added 14 new cases of the virus to its overall tally. The Moncton region (Zone 1) has two cases — one case is travel-related and the other is being investigated. A single travel-related case was added in the Fredericton region (Zone 3).
