Sáng 26/7, sau khi công bố kết quả kiểm phiếu, Quốc hội đã biểu quyết thông qua Nghị quyết bầu Chủ tịch nước với tỷ lệ 483/483 đại biểu Quốc hội tham gia biểu quyết tán thành.
Theo đó, ông Nguyễn Xuân Phúc - Ủy viên Bộ Chính trị khóa XIII, Chủ tịch nước CHXHCN Việt Nam nhiệm kỳ 2016 - 2021 (từ tháng 4/2021), đại biểu Quốc hội khóa XV - được bầu giữ chức vụ Chủ tịch nước CHXHCN Việt Nam nhiệm kỳ 2021 - 2026.
