A 9-year-old boy is running one kilometre every day of the third national lockdown to raise funds for the hospice which cared for his grandad. Hector Bodiam began his challenge on January 6 when his primary school was shut due to the pandemic. The energetic young lad from Ongar is fundraising for St Clare Hospice, who cared for his Grandad Bob Bowers before his death from oesophageal cancer in 2017. Hector’s fundraising target was set at £100 – an amount which he smashed in just three days. His fundraising page is currently on more than £1,500.
