KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition MPs were thrown into an outrage following the statement from Istana Negara, with some like Khalid Abdul Samad (PH-Shah Alam) openly calling for Muhyiddin's resignation. Dr Maszlee Malik (Independent-Simpang Renggam) said if the Parliament does not compel Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan and Muhyiddin to respond to the Palace statement, it could set a bad precedent for future leaders. "If this matter is allowed to happen again, it would be a black mark in the nation's history," he added. Gobind Singh Deo (PH-Puchong) subsequently raised Standing Orders 26(1)(P), saying that if there are no other pressing motions being tabled to the House, then the Speaker must prioritise a motion to cite Muhyiddin and Takiyuddin to the Rights and Privileges Committee.
