Don Johnson announced in June plans to leave Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to focus on "the broader cloud mission of the company." Now he's back at OCI, running a newly formed org called Oracle Cloud Platform & AI Services, Insider has learned. Clay Magouyrk, who Johnson named as a replacement in June, will continue to lead OCI "proper" after the reorganization, an email viewed by Insider said. Oracle has formed a new cloud and artificial intelligence organization, and executive VP Don Johnson — the former Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) boss once named by founder and CTO Larry Ellison himself as a potential contender for co-CEO — has stepped back in to run it after some time away from OCI, Insider has learned.
