Orange County commissioners set aside $2 million Tuesday to fund recommendations likely to be offered by a task force the mayor formed last year to stop gun violence. The board unanimously voted to amend the 2020-21 budget though it’s not clear what the money will fund or what the Citizens Safety Task Force will recommend in its final report. The group “is still doing its work; they have not finalized their work; and consequently they have not finalized their recommendations,” Mayor Jerry Demings said during the commission meeting. “But what I do know - based upon discussions that the various committees and the task force at large have had - there are going to be requests for additional funding.”
