I see that Mike Joslin is having one of his rants again, this time on reducing CO2 emissions. Whilst I entirely agree that they should be reduced, I am astonished at his comment that the Prime Minister should “cut the use of cars by one day a week”. How on earth does he propose that should be achieved? No politician of any party would legislate for that as they would be too fearful of the public backlash and of losing their seats. Having spent over 40 years in public transport, I can assure Mr Joslin that motorists would give up anything except their cars.
