Photo from SPARK/FB Samahan ng Progresibong Kabataan (SPARK), in a statement issued Tuesday, April 6, 2021, reiterated its call for #AcademicBreak as it stands up for students and their families who are “being left behind” as the country continues to grapple with impact of the pandemic. “We have had enough!” SPARK said. “It is violence to force children to answer quizzes and apply business-as-usual yardsticks when we do not know where to get food for tomorrow or if the virus will hit our families next,” it added. SPARK noted that students have also “had enough.” With their respective councils and organizations across the Greater Manila Area, they have been pushing for an academic break or academic ease.
