Paralysis can be avoided with timely treatment: cardiologist

Rawalpindi: A renowned cardiologist at the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) Dr Asif has said that body paralysis could be avoided, if the patient was shifted to hospital for treatment within two to five hours after the stroke.
If anyone suffers a paralysis attack, the patient must be shifted to the RIC within two to three hours as the body paralysis can be prevented through the latest treatment and techniques, he told APP.
In addition to 24/7 primary PCI for STEMI (emergency angioplasty for heart attack), he said the institute had now started round-the-clock acute ischemic stroke intervention including TPA (clot bursting medicine) and mechanical thrombectomy (emergency blood clot removal from brain and neck arteries).
