By Joel Malkin Photo: Getty Images Public defenders for Parkland school shooter Nikolas Cruz are asking a judge to prevent people in court from referring to him as a "killer," "murderer," and "the thing," and to instruct prosecutors and witnesses to only refer to Cruz as "the defendant." The defense attorneys argued that calling Cruz anything else "will violate his constitutional right to due process and his right to a fair trial." That's not sitting well with parents of some victims. Max Schachter, who lost his son Alex in the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, tweeted that Cruz "should be treated the exact same way he brutally murdered my Alex."
