WXXV News 25 June 9, 2021 Rafferty faced off against Democratic candidate Peggy Johnson and Independent Zenas Cappie. Tonight, Rafferty won the mayoral elections with 75 percent of the votes. Rafferty said, “My grandfather was the mayor back in 1936, my father was the superintendent of utilities, I have one brother who’s a former alderman, another brother who’s a former city judge. So, three generations of public servants here in Pass Christian, and the family just we live and breathe Pass Christian and we wanna make it even greater.” For Alderman Ward 1, Independent Betty Sparkman won against Republican James Clarke with 57 percent of the votes.
