(Photo courtesy of PCG) MANILA - The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will dispatch its offshore patrol vessels to Typhoon Odette-hit regions and provinces on Sunday (December 19) to augment relief operations. Around noon, BRP Gabriela Silang OPV-8301 will leave Port Area, Manila en route to Surigao del Norte, the PCG posted on Facebook on Saturday. The BRP Tubbataha (MRRV-4401) in Palawan and the BRP Malabrigo (MRRV-4402) in Batangas will also provide food packs, blankets, hygiene kits, and potable water to affected families in the Visayas. The PCG likewise called for in-kind donations that can be coursed through the Philippine Coast Guard Support System Foundation Inc. For cash donations, deposits can be made through Land Bank of the Philippines account Philippine Coast Guard Support System Foundation Inc, account number: 028 110 2338. The PCG assured donors will get corresponding receipts for their donations. "Makakaasa po kayo na ang bawat pisong donasyon na makakapasok sa PCG Foundation ay gagamitin para ma-ibigay ang anumang pangangailangan ng mga Pilipinong lubos na naapektuhan ng kalamidad (We can assure you that every donated peso will go to the PCG Foundation and will be used to provide for the needs of the Filipinos who have been severely affected by the disaster)," the post added. The PCG Logistics Systems Command is also open for in-kind donations such as food packs, ready-to-consume food items, rice, tents, purified drinking water, blankets, mosquito nets, vitamins, toiletries, slippers, and clean clothes. The donations should be dropped at the Coast Guard Base Farola, Muelle de la Industria Farola Compound, in Binondo, Manila.
