Pella Community Ambulance reports service call numbers were down in 2020 from 2019. Director Greg Higginbotham says they assisted at 1,739 incidents last year, down from 1,825 the previous year, a drop that was largely attributed due to closures in the spring related to COVID-19. However, Higginbotham says they were extremely busy with calls related to the virus this fall, especially in November, during the large surge across the state.
