T. Michele Walker, Correspondent When schools closed last winter to stop the spread of the coronavirus, teachers and students had to adjust to learning online. It was a challenge for everyone, particularly those involved in performing arts classes and programs, which involved potentially extra safety concerns. “There was a lot of apprehension on the part of performing arts teachers regarding what we would be allowed to do with our students,” said Kirby Sanders, choral music director at Sarasota High School. “We were unsure based on the information given to us concerning the aerosol produced with the voice and potential spread. Uncertainty was a common feeling.”
