Apr 11, 2021 The three-year project to study the peculiarities of migration in the Arctic received support from the council along with two other Russian projects from Yakutia and the joint work of Yamal and MIPT. PetrSU experts, together with colleagues from the Norwegian Nord University (Boudé) and the Canadian University of Laval, Quebec, study four types of migration flows: labor, educational, holiday migration and migration of retirees. Experts will identify the main sources of the labor force arriving from abroad, the reasons for the outflow of young people and, conversely, their return for jobs and high northern salaries. The project will touch upon the issues of recreation: where and how the residents of the Arctic territories spend their long northern vacations, as well as the peculiarities of migration from the north after retirement.
