Phi Centre founder testifies in her $15M lawsuit, denies OKing pricey purchases

Phoebe Greenberg, a wealthy supporter of the Montreal arts scene who is suing her former assistant for $15 million, testified Wednesday that she never authorized expensive purchases — including a gold watch delivered by an armoured truck — that are at the heart of the case.
The lawsuit alleges Sandra Testa, a former employee of the Phi Centre — the Old Montreal multidisciplinary arts and culture establishment Greenberg founded in 2012 — and Greenberg’s former personal assistant, took several trips, pocketed cash, held lavish parties and purchased expensive items without authorization from Greenberg or anyone above Testa at the centre.
