Upon the request of the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors, Danville City Council has voted to amend the code necessary to allow for an ex-officio member to the Danville Utility Commission, who will be a member of the county board and also a customer of Danville Utilities. Prior to this vote, Chapter two, Article XI - Utility Commission, Section 2-267 stated the composition of the Danville Utility Commission should consist of seven members, with six appointed by Danville City Council, as well as the city manager or acting city manager. Of the six members, the code stated at least one should be a customer of the utility system outside of the limits of Danville, four should be citizens of Danville and one should be an at-large customer of the utility system. A member of city council is on the commission as an ex-officio non-voting member.Â
