Synopsis The Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) is being implemented with effect from April 1, 2016 and aims to provide “Housing for all” through provision of pucca houses with basic amenities to all houseless households and households living in kutcha and dilapidated houses in rural areas. Agencies Rural development minister Narendra Singh Tomar (File Pic) Rural development minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Tuesday said unwillingness of beneficiary, migration, death of beneficiaries without legal heir, delay in allotment of land to landless beneficiaries, Covid-19 pandemic and elections have resulted in delay in construction of houses allocated under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. In response to a question in Lok Sabha, Tomar said out of 111 lakh houses sanctioned for urban India under the scheme, only 43.2 lakh have been completed or delivered which is 38.57% of the total targets while 83.71% or 97.62 lakh houses were completed under PMAY-Gramin as against a target of 116.1 lakh houses.
